OSU’s Wrestling coach arrested for DUI

Oklahoma State assistant wrestling coach Patrick Michael Smith was arrested by Payne County deputies early Friday morning.

Smith, 35, was charged with one count of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

At approximately 1:40 a.m., Smith’s Toyota pickup was seen swerving on Country Club Road, just north of Lakeview Road, according to a report from Payne County district attorney Robert Hudson.

If found guilty, Smith could face one to five years in prison.

Smith, brother of Cowboy coach John Smith, wrestled for Oklahoma State and won four individual national championships between 1990 and 1994.

He was recently named as a distinguished member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
