Missouri Goal: Break Attendance Record, Donate to Habitat for Humanity

Wrestlers Team With Community For Wednesday Night Dual

…MU Wrestling, Cost-Cutters and Greek Community Come Together…

Columbia, Mo. – The Missouri wrestling team has partnered with Cost-Cutters and the MU Greek community for the Wednesday, Feb. 16, dual against Tennessee-Chattanooga at 6 p.m. (CT), in the Hearnes Center. With doors opening at 5 p.m., the Missouri wrestling program is looking to set a new attendance record of over 2,000 fans in an effort to raise money for Habitat for Humanity.

If 2,000 fans pack into the Hearnes Center Wednesday night, Cost-Cutters will donate $2,000 towards the Missouri Greek community’s Habitat for Humanity house. Tickets for the event are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to everyone with an all-sports pass.

“I called Coach (Brian) Smith earlier in the year to brainstorm on an idea of how we could get a bigger turnout to the wrestling duals, “Cost-Cutter owner Chuck Crews said. “We both thought one of the best ways would be to involve Missouri’s Greek community and from there we all came to a decision that if 2,000 fans attend I would gladly donate the $2,000 they need to put toward the ground-breaking of their Habitat for Humanity house. “

The Tigers, currently 13-6 on the season and 12th in the nation, will open the final home dual of the season by honoring Missouri’s five senior wrestlers before taking on UTC for the second time of the year. Earlier in the campaign, Missouri suffered a 19-16 loss to the Mocs at the Virginia Duals.

With the men’s basketball game coinciding with the wrestling dual, parking could be tight. There are several parking options available around campus, including six parking garages: Maryland Ave. Garage (located on the corner of Hospital Dr. and Maryland Ave.), Conley Ave. Garage (6th and Conley Ave.), University Ave. Garage (University Ave. and College Ave.), Turner Ave. Garage (Turner Ave. and Maryland Ave.), Hitt Street Garage (9th and Elm St.) and Virginia Ave. Garage (Virginia Ave and Hospital Dr.). General public street parking will also be available on and around campus. The parking lot on the west side of Faurot Field will also be open.
