Stanford won five matches and earned a forfeit to take the win. Nathan Peterson and Matt Gentry recorded major decisions. <\/p>\n<p>To open the match, Nathan Peterson (125) had a near fall in the first period to open up a big lead over Cal Poly&#8217;s Josh Obregon, who was wrestling in his first collegiate match. Peterson scored three takedowns, including one at the buzzer, to win the major decision, 11-3. <\/p>\n<p>In his first action of the season, sophomore Josh Brown lost a major decision to Eric Melgares, 12-3. Eric&#8217;s twin brother, Evan, did not fare as well against Rafael Chavez at 141 pounds. Chavez scored two takedowns and had several impressive moves to win the 5-3 decision. <\/p>\n<p>Also wrestling in his first match of the season, Zack Hensley started at 149 pounds in place of Josh Zupancic, who was out with a virus. Hensley lost the match 20-6 to Dave Roberts. Matt Gentry got Stanford back on track with six takedowns, winning a 14-6 major decision over T.J. Ferguson. <\/p>\n<p>Scott Loescher (165) scored a narrow decision over Steve Gee, winning 8-7 after earning a point for riding time. Imad Kharbush likewise recorded a decision, 5-1, over Yuri Kalika. Brennan Corbett then won a forfeit at 184 pounds to clinch the victory for the Cardinal. <\/p>\n<p>Stanford wrestles against UC Davis on Saturday at 7:00 at Burnham Pavilion in the final dual of the season.
