ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Espanola school district is suing the New Mexico Activities Association.<\/p>\n
Espanola officials allege the organization’s weight classification system for wrestlers left its athletes at a disadvantage.<\/p>\n
State District Judge Daniel Sanchez granted a temporary restraining order against the activities association, which regulates high school sports.<\/p>\n
The order lets wrestlers compete at the weight in which they weigh in. A hearing on the issue is set for Monday.<\/p>\n
The Espanola district contends its wrestlers compete at higher weight classes because of mistakes in administering the program.<\/p>\n
