The University of Minnesota wrestling program has announced that Olympic
\nChampion Dan Gable will be the featured speaker at the 2005 Fall Coaches’
\nClinic and Workshop. This popular program will take place Friday, Oct. 28,
\nat the Bierman Field Athletic Building on the campus of the University of
\nMinnesota. An official practice of the Golden Gopher wrestling team will
\ntake place during the clinic. <\/p>\n
Open to college, high school and club coaches, the clinic and workshop
\nfeatures Golden Gopher coaches and former student-athletes. The clinic and
\nworkshop will cover topics such as mental toughness training, sports
\npsychology, wrestling techniques, strength and conditioning, diet and
\nnutrition, and much more. <\/p>\n
Highlighting the clinic is Gable, a two-time NCAA Champion at Iowa State. He
\nfinished his collegiate wrestling career with a 118-1 career record.
\nFollowing his wrestling career, Gable became head coach at the University of
\nIowa and led the Hawkeyes to 25 straight Big Ten titles and 17 NCAA
\nChampionships <\/p>\n
The clinic will also include workshops taught by Brent Barnes, head coach at
\nLake Stevens High School. He has led the Vikings to four Washington state
\nchampionships. Joining Gable and Barnes will be former Golden Gopher
\nfour-time All-American Jared Lawrence. Lawrence was the 2002 NCAA Champion. <\/p>\n
