UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., – The Penn State wrestling team’s 2005-06 recruiting class has again been recognized as one of the best in the nation. InterMat, a nationally respected wrestling website, ranked the Nittany Lions class fifth in the nation when they announced their annual Division I Recruiting Class Rankings. Head Wrestling Coach Troy Sunderland’s seventh recruiting class was also ranked sixth by W.I.N. Magazine. Iowa State’s recruiting class was ranked No. 1 by InterMat.<\/p>\n
Penn State’s 17-member class is ranked the highest among the five Big Ten schools in the rankings with Iowa’s also cracking the Top 10 at No. 10. Penn State’s class is highlighted by three wrestlers ranked among the top three recruits at their weight in the nation. Brad Pataky (125\/Clearfield, Pa.), Dan Vallimont (141\/ Lake Hopatcong, N.J.) and David Erwin (165\/Urbana, Ohio) all appear among InterMat’s top three recruits at their weight. Pataky is ranked No. 1 by InterMat at 119 pounds, while Vallimont, a two-time New Jersey state champion, is ranked No. 2 at 140 pounds and Erwin, a two-time Ohio State champion, is ranked No. 3 at 160 pounds by the website.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
