Sanderson stands in contestants way on reality show<\/p>\n
AMES, IOWA – Iowa State assistant wrestling coach and 2004 Olympic champion Cael Sanderson will appear on an episode of ESPN’s “I’d Do Anything “schedule to air on Monday, May 23. The air date is subject to change.<\/p>\n
“I’d Do Anything “is a show designed to turn a person’s friends and loved ones’ sports fantasies into realities. In order to do that, they will have to endure a series of unique and physically demanding challenges.<\/p>\n
The show’s producer, Randy Hall, said that next season, Sanderson will be heavily considered as one of the prizes, but for this season, he will be one of the physically demanding challenges.<\/p>\n
Three contestants will wrestle Sanderson, with whoever gets pinned the least amount of times in the allotted time period winning the challenge.<\/p>\n
Sanderson will fly to Los Angeles on April 15 to tape the episode. “It should be pretty cool, “Sanderson said. “I told the ESPN people I am not in competition shape anymore, so who knows, they might be pinning me.”<\/p>\n

Sanderson is best known for a collegiate wrestling career at Iowa State Univ. in which he became the first four-time, undefeated (159-0) NCAA champion in college wrestling history. After college, he won a silver medal at the 2003 World Championships before stamping his name on greatness with a gold medal at the 2004 Olympic Games.<\/p>\n
He won an ESPY Award in 2002 for “Best Male College Athlete “and was a finalist for the 2002 AAU James E. Sullivan Award given to the nation’s top amateur athlete. He is currently a finalist for the 2004 Sullivan Award for which the winner will be announced in New York City on April 13.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
