Well i said i would hop on here and give an update as to how the weekend went, so im staying true to my word.

As im sure many of you noticed, i was upfront with the Jets on the importance of my wrestling and one way or the other both Tommy and I weren’t planning on staying past monday night. It was three days to showcase our skills… (i would say natural skills but i dont believe in ‘natural skills’) So mainly what they were looking for was our foot speed, and most importantly balance. Everyday we went from 6 am until 10pm learning everything you could imagine in the football world; plays, strategies, calls with different formations from the defense, and actually a lot about the press and displaying a positive image… which is quite tricky actually, you would be surprised how the press phrases questions to get arrogant sounding responses even when its not intended that way (i saw how that happened to a guy and will likely never believe an arrogant quote i see again, you only here a response… not the question). Then twice a day we took to the field working plays, foot drills, bag drills, conditioning, even once a guy who trains pro boxers came in and we did a boxing workout which was a lot of fun. All in all it was a great experience and i would do it again in a heartbeat.

Like i said i was only planning on being there for the three days and following that i met with Coach Mangini, he and i talked about football and a future. Im happy to say he liked what he saw out of both Tommy and I. We were invited back but as we both stated that was not an option until we retired from wrestling. He told me to meet with some of the coaches at the U to learn plays and terminology from now until i finish wrestling so if i decide to comeback it would be more familiar to me. He also told me to stay in touch with him throughout this year and next just letting him know my progress and he said he plans to follow our wrestling careers. Im definately thinking about this opportunity once wrestling is finished, i did have a lot of fun with it. As far as the workouts were concerned, i did pretty well. My foot speed and balance were the best attributes i had and gave me an advantage in the drills and sprints. — plus my conditioning didnt hurt either… the longer practice went the better i was performing. I think i could talk all day about this experience and whether i decide to pursue this or not i will not forget this past weekend.

Takkle – Trash Talk and Get Noticed

I’ve recently came across a great site for High School wrestling fans. It’s called Takkle.com and it’s a free social sports networking site.

Now I’ve checked out a lot of these types of sites in the past, but Takkle seems to stand above the rest. It’s not some cheap knockoff, it’s a very well put together site and it’s worth a check out.

Not only can you share pictures and videos, network and trash talk, but you can also be seen by collages. It’s never been easier to show your talent.

WrestlingPod’s News Gets a Makeover

The new wrestling news theme is now live and kickin! It’s now easier on the eyes and hopefully easier to use over all. Please let me know if you find any issues and what you think about the new design. I hope to get the entire site converted over eventually, however I’m not sure when that’ll happen just yet.

You’ll also notice the new store is linked to too. It’s got about everything Amazon does as we run our store though them to bring our users a wide variety of items. And not just wrestling gear. You can get a Wii or Sony Playstation 3 & iPod accessories, clothes, food, electronics, almost anything!

McAfee SiteAdvisor checks for adware, spyware, viruses, browser exploits, excessive pop-ups, phishing and other scams and found nothing.

I work hard to make sure that the users experience is a good one and it’s nice to see other services are noticing.

Fixing Internet Explorer Issues

It never seems to stop amazing me, how one browser can be so popular and so horrible at web standards.

I’ve recently come to find out that Internet Explorer was causing two big issues. One, the right sidebar was displaying after the content and two, it kept alerting some error at line 72. Both have been fixed.

If you are in Internet Explorer, I urge you to check out Opera, Flock or Firefox. All three browsers are better than Internet Explorer because they have better security, more features and they comply with web standards much more than IE. They are all free and can import any of your favorites and settings. Switching takes just a few minutes and the joy of using a better browser lasts a long time!

Sather Air Base Looking For Floor Mat Material

Derrick Gray is currently living at Sather Air Base, otherwise know as Baghdad International Airport in Iraq. He is in a small Army unit that resides and works there.

The Air Base recently built a new “Gym” to house the weight equipment, and various cardio machines they have recently purchased. In this new facility they left a sizeable area for aerobics, spin classes, ab classes and various martial art/combatives training classes.

They currently have 4 different martial arts classes composed mainly of BJJ and Krav Maga type classes. The problem they have is that the area is only covered by a .25 inch hard rubber mat over concrete and in the purchase plan the failed to leave out floor mat material.

He is wanting to see if anyone has a remnant piece or pieces they would be willing to donate. The area they are trying to cover is 30 ft by 30 ft and they wouldn’t expect any one company/person to donate that much material. However, if they are able to get a few companies/people to donate a little, they could piece together a nice place to practice their skills.

If you are able to support this, it would only be a matter of getting the mat to the nearest Air Force Base; he might even be able to arrange for it’s transport from the nearest civilian Airport. Once it gets to the AF Base, there wouldn’t be any shipping costs involved for you.

Any help or guidance you could provide would be more than appreciated.

New URL Structure

We’ve gone though and updated the URL structure so it looks cleaner and is all around easier to use. I think I got all the old URLs redirected properly too so no bookmarks need to be updated. They should just work.

I did realize that the date archives aren’t working. Not sure why but I’ll have to research that.
