#tbt This picture by far is my favorite photograph from my senior #wrestling season. This was also my favorite match and the one I was most personally proud of. My opponent and I have talked before in other wrestling tournaments but never had a match against each other but I remember him boasting about himself while showing me his high school jacket with all his awards from wrestling sowed onto it. He had been wrestling for nine years and I only for one. The day of our meet we talked for a bit and he sounded so cocky about our match and how he was gonna beat me. Usually I’m the overconfident guy but that day it was him. I don’t know why but I just convinced myself that I was gonna win my match no matter what. This was one of the most excited matches I wanted to be part of. I fought hard and hit every move I wanted to on him but could not get the pin. I won by a large sum of point like 9-2 if I remember correctly but it was what happen after the match that exposed me to what this sport really was or at least what I think it is. It was his homecoming night and he was a senior so it was the last time his parents would see him #wrestle and he had lost and was the only person in the varsity team that loss. I realized that this sport truly weaves out the people who want to win from the people who need to win. I need to win to prove to myself my own worth more than he need to perform to his family. It does not matter how many awards you have from the past, what matters is now the present and how much are you willing to give to continue being #successful today as you were yesterday. He is a great guy and I wish him luck on what ever he is doing now. For now that match is another lesson to me that to never consider myself the #underdog of the #fight because if I believe that I’m the best and perform like I’m the best, hopefully I come out as the best. I expect great things from my first wrestling season in Delta this year. via mcz209
