Editorial Reviews:

Wrestling demands much more than physical stamina in order to excel. It requires a determination, fortitude, and level of confidence unlike any other sport.

Summary: A must in your fighter's library
Comment: I just bought this book and read the first 5 chapters. So far, it is very inspiring and give stories of willing yourself to win, and what it take to seperate your self from the average person. Examples site stories of NCAA and Olympic wrestlers, Iowa Hawkeyes wrestling program/ Dan Gable, UFC fighters like Dan Severn, Matt Hughes, Randy Couture, etc.

I've just started wrestling in my 40's. I did Judo and Jiu Jitsu in my 30's and Kickboxing/Kung Fu in my 20's. This is not only a great book to read and get pumped up before heading out to the gym, but I've recommitted to strive to be the best in my career and family life as well.

Summary: Very inspirational but a little tiresome
Comment: I REALLY enjoyed reading "Wrestling Tough". It's very motivational and has helped me push myself a little harder. However, there are a couple of drawbacks. Firstly, there seems to be an endless supply of name dropping which gets tiresome after 100 pages or so. Also, he uses one "inspirational" story which I think of as being borderline retarded. On page 207 - 208 he describes Phil Peterson who recognized that he had something wrong with his arm, showed it to the trainer who essentially told him he was being a wimp. Mr. Peterson went back and finished practice. After the practice Phil had his arm x-rayed and found that he had broken it. Mr. Chapman uses this as an example of being tough... Yeah, sure, he's tough but he wasn't saving someone's life, or even in "the big game" he was simply practicing. An athlete who is so out of touch with his body that he can't figure this out and get to a hospital isn't tough, he's just dumb!

Aside from these issues it's a real kick a*s book that will motivate you to push yourself harder! I particularly want to recommend this book to those who are involved in combative sports.
